In Mexico, breakfast is called "el desayuno" and brunch is ordered as "almuerzo". Roughly translated, those words mean "super-hardy meals filled with color, spice and flavor that match the character of the people who live in
Mexico". Throughout the Republic of Mexico, breakfasts vary by region due to the produce available, ethnic diversity and proximity to neighboring countries. Similarities in regional cuisine stem from Native American traditions (primarily Aztec and Mayan) and the influence of three centuries of Spanish rule.

While reading your story, I was expecting you to say that a) the glasses weren't ready because they hadn't even started or b) they had lost them....but to my surprise you had a great experience! It's stores like that that make you want to return again and again. Glad to hear you had such a good Tuesday!

I'll add catch a shave and go fishing to my list. Rise with the sun -- I'll scratch that one off. Though I guess you adapt as it gets darker a lot earlier South of the Border.

Hi! Just stumbled onto your blog because of the posting about crepes. Those look fabulous! I've just created a new page on my site for the review of restaurants that serve crepes.. Would you consider posting a review of El Trocadero on my crepe review page? We would love an entry from Mexico. I'll happily post a link back to your blog, if so. Thank you!

Just came across your blog and I'm a huge fan! Love your writing and the pics. I'm also from California and living in Mexico. I especially identified with your comment about not finding ingredients, since I love to cook.

Seems like so many Mex-pat blogs are by real estate sales people. They paint bright pictures of a perfect life for expats in Mexico. I'm trying to find out what life might truly be if I make the move. This is the first such blog I've seen that seems candid. Thanks!
